For one: Virtual Team Building is a lot less expensive
Before Covid, all team building events were in-person activities that were typically part of a company meeting or picnic. Now that everything is being done virtually, team building companies have had to change their offerings to fit in with the new Zoom reality. Since everything is done online, team building providers do not need to pack equipment, do extensive set-up or go anywhere. This cuts down on time substantially, not to mention gasoline. This translates into more economical pricing for you.
For small meetings of less than 25 people, this is especially true because the activity can be run by just one facilitator. It gets a bit more complex, with larger groups that have more than 4 teams participating. Some activities require one facilitator for every four teams.
The price of a virtual team building event should range from $100- $150 per team. For example, if you have a group of 24 people on four teams of six people each, the pricing for an event would range from $400- $600. This is substantially less than the pricing for an in-person event.
Team size for online events should be 3- 6 people/team. With in-person events, you can have teams that are 7- 10 people in size. In a virtual setting, it is hard for a larger team to discuss and work together since only one person can talk and share ideas at a time.
The length of time: a virtual event will last about 45 to 90 minutes, depending upon the activity. People find it getting tedious if it goes on longer than that. Whereas an in-person event can easily go two to three hours. People can actually move around, and the nature of an in-person event provides a lot more variety physically and mentally.
Whatever you decide to do, getting people interacting, increasing energy, camaraderie and fun– those are the goals. Both types of team events can achieve these results.
